New Product Updates! December, 2013.

As the year comes to an end, we wanted to take this opportunity to shed light on a few improvements we've made to our app over the course of December.   We also want you to know, we are maintaining full-steam ahead as we continue to excel into 2014!!

Without further or due, let's check out these updates!

1. Your news feed has been added to the home page of the Grand View template.
Our Grand View template is by far, one of the most popular templates.  Although the initial response has been fantastic, your feedback has suggested, it would be a great addition to have the option to enable your news feed to the home page of this template.  So, now when you create a site using the Grand View template, you can either turn your news feed "On" or leave it "off" just as it was before. Check it out!

2. Edit your images with the all new Aviary 3.0!
Aviary, the image editing tool we support in our app, has recently released a slick, new version that is, well, awesome!
Here are some of the highlights:
  • Gorgeous, streamlined interface: better customization for you, and improved performance for our users.
  • Improved the number of tools, including Enhance, Crop, Draw and Text.
  • Improved the top and bottom toolbars of the editor: tool name displayed above, image size below the photo.
  • Greatly improved it's general performance and responsiveness.

3. Two new templates coming soon!
One of the items, we're so passionately working on to improve is the site templates we have available for all of our users.   Your feedback has let us know, you're looking for some fresh, new looks to create your sites with, so we've asked our designers to whip up a couple brand new templates that offer a bolder, slicker look.  You're going to love the new designs!

Check them out below!

How to: Add a Custom Page to your Site

The power of adding your own custom pages to your SITEFLY site has arrived!  We're super excited about this new feature as it's one of the most powerful tools available for all our SITEFLY creators.  It's also one of those features that has been in high demand since we first launched SITEFLY earlier this year.

We originally thought, the content pulled from your Facebook page would be sufficient enough to share your businesses story; however, we quickly learned that you needed that extra set of tools to help develop your story while enhancing your credibility on the web.

With your help, we've been able to assemble a super-intuitive, easy-to-use page manager that allows you to add unlimited pages (based on your subscription plan) where you have the freedom to add text, images, video, audio, online stores and more!

Let's take a quick look on how easy it is to add a custom page to your site :)

Adding a page is quick and simple.  To begin, while in your sites editor, simply click the 'Pages' icon located in your left-hand tool bar.  Once clicked, your page manager will expand where you now have the option to add a new page.  Click the "+ new page" button to launch your available page layouts.

Once you've click '+ new page' a pop-up will display where you can choose any of the eleven different page layouts.  We list the different types of pages along the top as tabs.  To select a page of your choice, hover over the image and 'click'.

Next, you will be asked to add your pages title.  Enter your page title then, click "Save".

Now, SITEFLY will bring you to your all new page.  Once on your page, you can begin to click and edit each of the custom content sections to begin adding your own content.

You can continue to add more sections of content by clicking the "Add Section" box.

When you're finished creating your new page, it's time to save all your changes!  To do this, simply click the "Publish" button located at the top right of your sites editor.   By clicking publish, you are pushing all new edits to your live site.  Before publishing, you can always preview your site by clicking the "Preview" icon located to the bottom left hand site of your editor toolbar.

Add Twitter, SoundCloud, YouTube and other Widgets to Your Site.

One of the cool, new features we're most excited about is the, "Add Widget" tool.

After we launched SITEFLY beta, many of our earliest adopters sent us feedback requesting the opportunity to share more information on their sites.  For example, they wished they could add their Twitter, YouTube, SoundCloud, Google Maps, badges or any other application that can provide something of value to their visitors.

We immediately recognized this request as something we had to deliver.  Subsequently, the new SITEFLY offers just that; and since or recent launch, we are seeing a ton of fellow site creators adding different types of widgets to their sites

Check out how or friends from "Recording Artists Available for Booking" are using their SoundCloud and YouTube on their site!

Pretty sweet, right?

You can also add any widget of your choice by following these simple steps:
  • While in your sites editor, hover over and click the "Add Widget" section.
  • Then, copy and paste your widget code.  Also, be sure to turn your widget "On" before saving your work.
  • Once your widget is visible on your site, click the "Publish" button and boom, you're finished!

See? That was fast.

If you have any further questions regarding widgets, check out our Add Widgets help desk , or feel free to contact our support team.

Take a tour of your new SITEFLY 'Dashboard'

One of the exciting new improvements we made for SITEFLY 2.0 is the all new Dashboard!

During the development of SITEFLY 2.0,  SITEFLY worked with a pair of super talented RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) students who did an amazing job in helping us craft the new branding and user interface (UI) for SITEFLY.   As a result, the new Dashboard is testament to their incredible talents.  Check it out here below....

Aside from the slick, new look; the Dashboard comes equipped with some really helpful tools and features to help you get the most of your SITEFLY sites.  With that said, let's take a dive into some the Dashboards new capabilities.

1.  My Account

Your 'My Account' dashboard, provides you all the details regarding each of your SITEFLY accounts.  Here you can monitor the status of all you current plans as well as:

  • Keep track of account invoices.
  • Manage and update your billing info.
  • Change your plan options.
Also, you can quickly update your contact info if ever the need be.

2.  My Sites

My Sites, provides you quick access to all your sites so you can easily edit, monitor traffic, change your sites settings or preview how your site will look from any mobile device.  You can also upgrade your account, change your current plan and if the need be, delete a site. (However, we hope you never have to)

3. Site Traffic

The new Site Traffic feature is an insightful tool where you can track all your sites activity.  By actively monitoring your sites traffic, you can learn more about your visitors' behavior.  For instance, learn more about the days and times they most frequently visit your site.  Then, plan your marketing strategy accordingly so you can post the most important information at those times.

4. Settings

Your sites "settings" contains pretty much all the back-end assets to your site like, SEO meta tags and descriptions, domains, Google analytics ID, along with your site 'contact form' email destination.

We could dig deeper into all the capabilities and benefits your sites "settings" has to offer so, let's save that for it's own upcoming post.

5. Preview

Are you curious to know what your site will look like from any device?  If so, then 'preview' is your tool!  By clicking "preview", SITEFLY will display your site externally in it's own tab. This way, you can get a true, first-hand experience of what your site will look like.

Located at the top left of your preview window, you will notice a small drop menu that contains three device icons: mobile, tablet and pc.  By clicking any of the icons, you will immediately see your site respond to the size screen of the designated device.  Its magic before your eyes!

Unfortunately, it's now time bring this tour to and end.  It's been a pleasure to be your tour guide.  Please stay tuned to our SITEFLY blog as we will continue to provide new and exciting updates about our product.

Create a Facebook Page in 10 Easy Steps

1. Login

If you're an existing Facebook user, simply login using your account info.  If you are not a Facebook user already, I strongly encourage you to sign up first before proceeding to creating a business page.

2. Click “Pages”

Once logged into your account, you will need to click the "Pages" button that is located on the left side of your Facebook News Feed.

3. Begin Creating a New Page

While on your "Pages" Dashboard screen, click the "Create a New Page" button located toward the top of the pages list.

4. Select Your Business Category

Next, you will need to select the type of page you are creating based off six main categories Facebook provides.

NOTE: Only select Local Buisness or Place if  your business has a physical location for customers  to attend.

Once you select the main category that best fits your business, you will need to select
a more specific category located within the drop-down menu.

5.  Add Basic Information to Your Page

Now, Facebook will prompt you through a few quick steps to begin populating your page with basic information about your business as well as the opportunity to upload a Profile image and adding your page to your "Favorites" list in order to easily access your site from anywhere in Facebook.

6.  Add a Cover Photo

Once on your new page, it's time to upload a new cover photo.  When done correctly, a cover photo can make a first great impression to a new lead.  Make sure your cover photo is powerful and beautiful.  You want your cover photo to provide insight into your what your business is without interfering with Facebook's Cover Photo Terms.

In order to get the most of your cover photo, I strongly encourage you to create the image with the following dimensions: 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels high.

7.  Update Your Page Info (In Depth)

Populate your page with more in-depth information about your business like key employees, products or services, awards, location and more.  Your "About Page" is prime real estate for new fans to lear more about your business and connect.

Once inside your page info dashboard, you have the ability to manage our "Page Info,
    Admin Roles, Settings and more."

8.  Populate Your Facebook Page Tabs

When you create a new page, Facebook provides you native tabs located on your site to populate with different content like photos, videos, events, notes and more.  You can also use 3rd party apps like Beatport and Pinterest to display here as tabs to boost the utility of your page.

9.  Start Posting

Now that your page is nearly complete, it's time to begin posting engaging content to share with your new followers.  Remember to post content that is exciting, engaging and informative.  Be sure to keep your tone consistent when posting to your Facebook page as this will be a first line of communication between your business and your audience.  Posts that include images receive much higher engagement than posts consisted of plain text.

10.  Build Your Audience!

Once your page is complete and you have made a couple posts, it's time to begin sharing your page and inviting friends to "Like" your page.  When a person "Likes" you page, it is their way of providing consent that they wish to receive more information about your business from the posts you make to your Timeline.

Facebook provides multiple ways to help page owners grow their followers.  Some are free and some are paid.  It is important to experiment with both techniques.  Try growing your page organically first through social sharing and invites.  Once you have built a good foundation of engaged followers, begin to grow your audience faster by executing Facebook Ad's campaigns to drive new traffic to your page.
